Circunomics Impresses with Sustainable Battery Lifecycle Management Solution

Start-up presents itself at "The smarter E Europe" trade fair in Munich

For the young Mainz-based company Circunomics, all indicators are pointing upwards and it is in the process of further expanding its position as the world's largest digital marketplace for 2nd-life use and recycling of used batteries. It is therefore only logical to present its unique Battery Lifecycle Management Solution to an international trade audience at Europe's largest trade fair for batteries and storage systems - "The smarter E Europe". From 19 - 21 June, 2024, Circunomics will be presenting itself at Messe München (booth# C5.480J) as an innovative and up-and-coming start-up that is setting positive trends within the circular economy.

In addition to its presence at the trade fair, Circunomics will also be represented on the Start-up Stage in Hall B5. On 19 June 2024 at 2 p.m., Sebastian Bujnoch (Senior Business Developer) will present Circunomics' business model. The start-up offers qualified sellers and buyers (B2B) of used batteries, modules and cells not only a pure trading platform, but also an analytics tool that uses unique, AI-supported software to analyse the state of health of the used battery individually and perfectly simulate its future use in 2nd-life. The Circunomics reach continues to expand further. In the future, the "black mass" produced during recycling will also be traded via the digital marketplace.

Another Circunomics contact at the trade fair is Jan Born. The Co-Founder and CTO explains: "In our first full operating financial year 2023, we exceeded our own expectations straight away with a traded storage capacity of 279 megawatt hours. The current financial year, 2024, has also developed excellently, with over two gigawatt hours of storage capacity already on our platform. This shows the great importance of 2nd-life usage and recycling."

The challenges associated with e-mobility, as well as the increasing use of batteries in other areas is huge. From both an ecological and economic perspective, it is essential that batteries are used sensibly throughout their entire lifecycle. Beginning in 2030, it is expected that five to six million end-of life batteries from passenger vehicles alone will be scrapped every year. In secondary use, these batteries will be able to utilize their remaining  performance capacity for years before they reach end-of-life and need to be properly recycled.
